KIM DAWSON

Currently the owner of Sky Dog Productions, an Independent production company, Kim is a 30-year veteran of the film and television industry, having also worked as a Production Executive with Showtime Networks, Trans World International and with Trans Continental Companies in a joint venture with ABC and MTV. He also owns Highway I Entertainment, a film production company, along with his partners Tim Moore and Rowdy Herrington.

Kim has operated SkyDog Productions as an independent production company based in Orlando, Florida, since 1988. SkyDog has engaged in a wide range of activities, ranging from full scale production, to project development and joint venture/co-productions. Kim is both a line and creative producer with a strong business and managerial background as well as market expertise. Current projects include the pre-production phase of Elephant Wild, a co-production effort with National Geographic Feature Films, for Warner Brothers. He is also in the process of developing various television series, specials and features, in conjunction with Universal as well as other studios.

Kim recently produced the feature film entitled, Bobby Jones – Stroke of Genius (2003), an $18 million feature that was 13 years in the making, starring Jim Caviezel (Passion of the Christ, The Count of Monte Cristo). The film was released domestically in the spring of 2004 and internationally thereafter, by Sony Pictures. Other current projects produced by Kim include the recently completed high definition TV series in association with Integrity Arts at Disney MGM Studios entitled Courage Colorado, as well as a new pilot in development for a multi-media children’s series entitled, HarbOURtown, starring Gregg Russell. Kim is also working with Dreamvision Studios to produce Unshakable aka Nadia’s Story about the miraculous adoption of a Russian orphan who will help to change the world.

Kim is well known for producing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I, II, & III films, in conjunction with Golden Harvest Films and New Line Cinema. These films are the most successful independent film series ever produced. Kim was also the producer of The Mickey Mouse Club - MMC for the Disney Channel during the time

period of 1988-90. Kim previously served as the Coordinating Producer for Trans Continental Television Productions on the ABC/MTV series Making the Band. In 2004 he produced Carrot Top Live as a cable TV special and subsequent DVD release into the mass markets, in conjunction with Gary Propper Entertainment. Further credits include his role as Executive Producer for a series of videos for Walt Disney World, including A Day at the Magic Kingdom, A day at EPCOT Center and The Magic of Christmas at Walt Disney World.

In 1996 Kim oversaw the production of a two hour motion picture project entitled, Tarzan the Epic Adventures, for STI Entertainment in association with Keller-Siegel Entertainment. In 1995, while working with former Saturday Night Live producer Michael Wilson, Kim finished the production of 65 episodes of the late-night television comedy hit The NEWZ, which was distributed through Columbia Pictures television to 166 US markets. Prior to moving to Florida, Kim worked as an independent producer in Los Angeles, where he produced a number of specials and home video releases, working with the comedian Gallagher. He worked for six years at the Showtime Networks, serving as the Director of Original Programming, where he was responsible for the development and production of more than 100 comedy, drama and music specials and series. During this time Kim oversaw the production of the extremely popular television series, The Paper Chase.

Kim, now 58 years old, currently lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife. He has served on the Florida Governor’s Film Advisory Board as well as the Florida Institute for Film Education Board of Advisors, as well as several local and state Economic Development Commissions. Kim’s exceptional history of success within the family genre should provide the FSP Advisory Board with a wealth of additional experience and a well counseled opinion as to commercial viability.
